A tie-breaking solo home run by Drew Macias (4) in the top of the ninth inning lifted the Camden Riversharks over the Somerset Patriots 4-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday afternoon.
The Patriots blew a three-run lead in the final two innings to snap a seven game home winning streak.
The Patriots scored first in the bottom of the fourth inning after Freddie Bynum was hit by a pitch, Freddy Sandoval singled, and Jesse Hoorelbeke walked to load the bases. Aaron Mathews then followed with a single down the left field line to plate both Bynum and Sandoval and give Somerset a 2-0 lead.
The Patriots added to their lead the following inning on an RBI single by Hoorelbeke to make the score 3-0.
An RBI single by Colin Roberson and a two RBI single by Scott Knazek brought home three runs for Camden in the top of the eighth to tie the score at three.
Camden reliever Mike Mehlich (1-0) got the win after tossing a scoreless eighth inning. Patriots reliever Josh Rupe (1-3) suffered the loss after allowing the go ahead run in the ninth inning. John Lujan got his fifth save of the season after pitching a scoreless bottom of the ninth.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season will continue on Friday night when the Patriots take on the Riversharks. The game includes a post-game fireworks show.
