The Hillsborough Dukes hosted Bridgewater on Sunday, October 7th at the Hillsborough High School Field. The Dukes’ competed in games across 4 levels starting at 8:30 in the morning to end their home schedule for the season.
Flag teams
The flag team was broken into three teams on Sunday against Bridgewater to compete against their three teams. The Red Squad had a strong day led by their defense. Billy Meszaros had a great game on defensive side of the ball. The Dukes were also led by the play of Wade Liedl, Layne Carley, JB McCrea, Philip Unangst and an interception by Jack O’Donnell. O’Donnell and Chris Spinelli scored on offense.
The Yellow team was led by 4 touchdown runs from Francesca Schiro. Tristan Jose and Marcus Baker also scored, while Anthony Sowinski and Steven Hunt contributed on both sides of the ball.
The third team (a combination of Red & Yellow) was led by touchdown runs from Adrian Carley & Cole Hayden. Carley, Jack Moran, Logan McDermid & Chris DeCicco had big days on the defensive side of the ball.
Mitey Mites
The Mitey Mites had another strong effort this week against Bridgewater. The offense score three times with TD runs by James Mazuera, Andrew Johnson and a TD pass from Matt Ruggier to Rocco Viscel. Extra points were ran in by Leo Schiro and Mike Abode. The defense had strong performances from Nick Burns, Nate Kepniss, Michael Caporosso, Mazuera, Schiro & Viscel.
Junior Pee Wee
The Junior Pee Wee battled Bridgewater in a defensive game which ended in a 6-6 tie. Sean Levonaitis scored for the Dukes. The defense was led by strong performances from Mark Mclain, Kyle & Jadon Chedid, Aiden Lugo, Connor Graverson and Arex Wyatt.
PeeWee
The Hillsborough Duke PeeWee lost to Bridgewater by a score of 22-0 in Hamilton. The Dukes look forward to next week’s game to try and get back in the win column.
Cheer
All of the football teams would like to thank the Dukes cheer squads for their support. The girls cheered on the football teams throughout the day, and endured the rain to motivate the teams. The halftime routines are improving weekly as Competition season approaches and we can’t wait to root the girls on.
Schedule
The Dukes’ next games will be Sunday, October, 14th, on the road against Phillipsburg. The games will begin with Flag at 9:00am and continue throughout the day.
