What Should Replace Riverside Grill?
The owners plan to move out of the area and closed the restaurant earlier this month.
Riverside Grill cooked up its last burger earlier this month. The owners of the Route 206 restaurant said in an email to its devoted customers they were moving out of the area and planned to close on June 15.
So what should take its place? Let us know in the comments.

until Kmart get replaced i don't see how ANY eatery will survive in there. there's no volume of people going into there. (unless they want a frosty from Wendy's)

How about another bank? Don't have enough of them in hillsbrough. It's a shame all these businesses are closing. Hillsborough has less than a handul of decent restaurants.

An empty field would be nice.

I remember when it was that. Sometime before about 1983 or so. And it was a very successful empty field.

an independent restaurant, not another chain or pizza place but something different in the food arena would be nice.

I never heard of the Riverside Grill so its hard to feel bad about them leaving town. That entire shopping center would be best to undergo redevelopment.

According to Gene Stgrupinsky's EBDC Newsletter, the sign on the door now says that they were closed for renovation and will reopen in the same location on Friday, June 29,

Someone else had commented on another thread about that -- hope it's true!

That's odd. I was on the email list, and the owner sent out a note saying he and his family were moving away. Maybe, hopefully, something changed.

I know.. I know... how about another Pizzeria....we only have 21 of them....or like the other viewer said another bank...because I think Hillsborough township doesn't have enough banks to to all of our property tax money in... bc after paying the taxes we dont have any money left....

If you're craving a burger that's not part of a big franchise, there's 25 Burgers in Bound Brook.
If you're looking for something just a little different, try Little Island Cuisine Jamaican in Kingsbridge Center, diagonally across from the municipal building. There's also an Indian place and a couple other places, including Lenny's Pizza (in case you can't find one of those).

But 25 Burgers IS a big franchise?!

25 Burgers is 6 locations, with 3 new ones coming, according to the website. (So, arguably not a big franchise yet.) It's still a lot smaller than Five Guys (736 at one point), Burger King, Wendy's or McDonalds.

That shopping center has been a looser since day one. My suggestion: level the whole place and start over. Find a developer and incent them to take a chance. Get a good anchor and upscale the physical buildings. Finding a tenant here and a tenant there - restaurant, bank or pizza store - makes no sense. Unless the town does a complete renovation, nothing will change.

Dick's Sporting Goods!!

That's a tricky spot for traffic, especially getting in from northbound 206 since there's no delayed green.
I agree the place needs nicer landscaping and buildings, and you may be right about the sporting goods store.

A sporting goods store would be great. All we have in the area is Modell's and they sell more clothing and shoes that sports equipment.
