The Somerset County Chapter of the American Red Cross has four emergency shelters open for area residents evacuated from their homes in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.
Mal Plager, a coordinator for the Red Cross, has been checking on the shelters and notes the only way the shelters can function is with help from the public.
