Two Eagle Scouts Honored by Township

Scouts performed their Eagle projects at their houses of worship.

Two recent grads were honored Tuesday night by the Township Committee for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

Andrew Lubin and Matthew Temple are each members of Boy Scout Troop 89. The troop, sponsored by Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 on Route 206, has had more than 70 Eagle Scouts since 1958.

Lubin’s Eagle project was the refurbishment of a shed at his synagogue, Congregation Kehilat Shalom in Belle Mead. He also built several picnic tables and benches to be used for outdoor events at the synagogue.

Temple’s Eagle project was the design and construction of a memorial garden at Mary Mother of God Church on Triangle Road to honor the church’s late pastor, Msgr. Liam Minogue. He worked with the church’s leadership and enlisted help from friends and other scouts to complete the project.

Lubin will attend Drexel University in the fall. Temple will attend New Jersey Institute of Technology.
