In honor of health-conscious upcoming events, the Hillsborough Township Committee awarded a pair of proclamations to local organizations for their efforts to promote healthy living in the community.
For the YMCA, the township proclaimed this Saturday, April 28, “YMCA Healthy Kids Day” in an effort to “encourage all residents to support the efforts of the Hillsborough Family YMCA to promote healthy living in our community,” according to Mayor Carl Suraci.
The YMCA was happy to have the township bring attention to its cause.
“The Hillsborough Family YMCA would like to thank the Mayor and Township Committee for honoring our ‘Y’ in this way, and encourage the community to come out and support the day,” said Hillsborough YMCA Executive Director Valerie Giacopelli.
The Raritan Valley Mothers of Multiples, on the other hand, had an entire month dedicated to their cause in anticipation of an educational program for new and expecting parents of multiple children.
“We, the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Hillsborough hereby declare April as National Multiple Birth Awareness Month and urge all citizens to join us in recognizing those organizations that are committed to educating expecting mothers about the challenges of multiple births while celebrating the joy of new life,” Suraci said.
The program, which will feature presentations health care professionals and experienced parents who have given birth to multiple children from the same pregnancy, will be held on Wed., April 25 at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick from 7-9 p.m.
