Sweeney's 36 Saves Not Enough in Hillsborough Loss

A power-play goal with less than two minutes remaining stopped the Hillsborough High team in a 1-0 loss to Bridgewater-Raritan Friday night in the first round of the Skyland Conference Cup at the Bridgewater Sports Arena.

IN SHORT

The game went through two full periods without a score. As the clock wore down in the third period, Bridgewater began mounting an advantage in the Hillsborough end. With just two  minutes to go, Hillsborough was called for a penalty. Panther captain David Monahan was guarded as he stood just outside the crease when the puck came to him and he slipped it past goalie Tim Sweeney with just 1:37 left in the game.

RAIDER OF THE GAME

Tim Sweeney - The freshman was stellar between the pipes, stopping 36 shots on goal and keeping the Panther off the scoreboard until the last 2 minutes.

KEY PERFORMANCES

Alex Wizna (Hillsborough) - Wizna played a strong defensive game throughout and was always on the puck.
