Special Officers Honored For Decades of Service

The five have more than a century of combined service to Hillsborough.

Five special police officers with more than a century of combined service were honored recently by the Hillsborough Township Committee.

Receiving proclamations were Bruce Knolmayer, George Mariasz, Daniel Panucci, Randy Johnson and Christopher Thompson.

The special police officers assist the police department in several ways, including providing traffic control during natural disasters and serious traffic accidents, assisting with security and crowd control at township events such as parades and fireworks night, and conducting pro-active patrol activities.

In addition, the special officers fill extraneous duty assignments, conduct special performance details and participate in training.

Police Chief Paul Kaminsky presented plaques to four of the five who were in attendance at Tuesday’s meeting. Thompson was unable to attend.

Kaminsky said Knolmayer has 38 years of service, Mariasz has 31 years, Panucci has 28 years, and Johnson has 16 years.
