Six Veteran Teachers Announce Retirements

Departing educators have a combined 183 years of service.

 

Six teachers with a combined total of 183 years of service to the Hillsborough school district have announced their retirements.

Retiring effective July 1 will be:

  • Bonnie Alley, German teacher at Auten Road Intermediate School, who started in Hillsborough on Sept. 1, 1976.
  • Janet Hartmann, grade six literacy teacher at Auten Road Intemediate School, who also started on Sept. 1, 1976.
  • Wayne Kopf, instrumental music teacher at Auten Road Intermediate School, who started Sept. 1, 1979.
  • Patricia Mathisen, music teacher at Triangle School, who started Sept. 1, 1974.
  • Susan Pristas, German teacher at Hillsborough High School, who started Sept. 1, 1992.
  • Cynthia Sobreyra, Spanish teacher at Hillsborough High School, who started Sept. 1, 1998. Sobreyra was a former teacher of the year.

The retirements were approved at Monday’s school board meeting.

My kids were sad to hear that Mrs. Mathisen's retiring - We'll miss you!

Mrs. Mathisen will be missed. She has done a tremendous job with the students at Triangle School! They always put on a great show and she makes the kids feel so good about themselves and their accomplishments. She will leave behind tough shoes to fill!
