Biondi Successor to be Chosen This Week

District 16 Republican organizations to select candidate for General Assembly.

The decision on filling late Hillsborough resident Pete Biondi's seat on the State Assembly will be made this week, during a Thursday meeting in Hillsborough.

Biondi, a longtime committeeman, freeholder and later assemblyman, died in November, following a bout with cancer. He had won his re-election bid just two days prior to his death—meaning Republican organizations would need to find a candidate to fill the post for his new term, as well as for the remaining time in his current term.

Here's where we'll be this week:

Tuesday: Did you know Hillsborough has a new business in town that hails from Manville? Read about it in today’s On the Town column.

Wednesday: The Zoning Board of Adjustment continues its hearing on the demolition of a historic building on Amwell Road at 7:30 p.m. tonight. We’ll have a story from that meeting on Thursday morning.

Thursday: The Republican Organizations from Hunterdon, Somerset Mercer and Middlesex Counties will meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Hillsborough Municipal Building to pick a candidate to fill late Assemblyman Pete Biondi’s seat. The story will be on the site on Friday morning.

Friday: Triangle Elementary School hosts its annual packing day where students at the school will make care packs for the troops. Would Patch miss it? Of course not!

About this column: Originally a sporadic column, Take Five, (take two?), highlights events happening in Hillsborough that day.
