Nominate the Best Nursery School

Let us know the best nursery school so we can put it to a vote and find out which is the Readers’ Choice 2012 winner.

Where's the best nursery school?

Patch is relaunching its Readers’ Choice program and we’re asking you, your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else who knows to nominate the best spots in Hillsborough Patch.

We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your favorites now.

All you need to do to nominate a business is to add it in the comments below. If you already see the business you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included, because we may not be able to add all businesses and we want to make sure the top ones make it into the poll.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

There will be plenty of other folks nominating places like CNC and MMOG I'm sure, but my kids went just over the river to Children's Garden of Learning at Neshanic Methodist Church (http://www.cgol.org). Ms. Sue & her team have a very unique program that is unlike anything else around for the price. It's a "one room school house" where there is one big class (up to 30) where students are split into smaller groups after circle time by personality/disposition, not chronological age, and then rotate through "classes" with different teachers like in big kid school. You can choose from morning 9-11:30, include lunch through 12:30, or "full day" 9-3. You can opt for full day one day a week if you want (My younger daughter her last year was M-W-F, but only did full days on Fridays). They also run 8 weeks of summer camp (already started) for ages 3-8, T-Th 9-12, through the end of July. Check them out!

The Goddard School of Hillsborough!! My son has been going there since he was 4 months old and there is no one else that I would trust with him! They have taught him so much and made the transition of going back to work for him and I easy. The school is clean and well ran and the staff is friendly and truely care about the children. They always have your child's best interest in mind! Go Goddard!!!!!

LOL -- I hadn't noticed until you said something. But yeah, the term "nursery school" means different things to different people. What we call "preschool" now was called "nursery school" when I was little so I always took them as synonyms.

I just looked it up and the modern definition of "nursery school" covers anywhere from 1 - 5, so I think you're still in the window with PALS!

Mary, Mother of God is without a doubt the best nursery school in the area! The two teachers, Bernadette and Karen are the most nurturing people I have ever known. The children are cared for, taught how to respect one another, learn a great deal and have fun playing with one another. The environment is friendly, clean and fun. You will not find a better preschool in the area! Go there and see for yourself.

My vote goes to Mary Mother of God! It has been a wonderful experience for my family and my daughter. After my oldest went to full time daycare-leaving for a regular nursery school was a huge adjustment for me. My daughter and I thrived at MMOG. I can't say enough about the teachers and the parents/friends we have met there. You will not find a better school than MMOG!

Mary Mother of God, hands down! I have two children who attended preschool there. And their experience there was extraordinary. Miss Karen and Miss Bernadette take their role as their teachers very seriously and with great pride. Every child is felt special and loved from them. And I feel they are academically focused and their goal is to make sure each child is ready for kindergarten. I can't say enough about this wonderful preschool!

My vote is Christian Nurturing Center. I tried another preschool that was fine it just lacked the emotional, loving and nurturing component I was looking for in a preschool. CNC provided it for that child and the one to follow. We spent 4 years at CNC and loved everyday of it. Great place with lots of class choices and times.....Mommy and Me, Nursery, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Enrichment.

Miss Karen and Miss Bernadette are the best--they really know their stuff! The program keeps expanding while so many other schools are getting smaller and this is because of their no-nonsense approach to education.

We vote for Mary, Mother of God. The kind staff there go above-and-beyond to make each child feel comfortable, special and unique in a classroom and academic setting - and they truly do care for each child in their class. They always remained patient and were consistant in their routines so my son always knew what to expect when it was a school day. MMOG was a wonderful foundation to his elementary school years ahead of him and don't get me started on the graduation! phew! This was a tear-jerker and something his dad and I will always remember as one of his most special days:)

Christian Nurturing Center, hands down for us. I can't say enough positive things about them. The staff treats the students like their own children, comforting them when they miss their parents and fixing ponytails on picture day. That makes for a truly "nurturing" environment. When I dropped off my children on that dreaded first day of school I was instantly comforted seeing the interaction between the teachers and students. My son STILL talks about Mrs. Kupcha and he's going into first grade!!! He loves her. I'm so glad we made the right choice and I've got two very grounded kids who couldn't wait to get to kindergarten. THANKS CNC!!!

Christian Nurturing gets my vote without a doubt! Both of my children went there and we never want to leave! Every single teacher is devoted and dedicated to the children. They take their job as a child's first teacher very seriously! This is a school that has NO staff turnover, which is pretty much unheard of in this field. The class options are very flexible 2, 3, 4 or 5 day offerings. The school day is 9-11:30 or 9-1, depending on a family's needs. Children can start at the age of 2 with Mommy and Me, then move on to nursery and pre-kindergarten, as well as half day kindergarten enrichment. Family activites such as Movie Night and Pumkin Carving are planned, as well as free parent workshops. Class size is small and that was very important to us. Every child truly is nurtured. It's a wonderful place! :)

I can only say good things about Christian Nurturing Center. Both of our children went there/are still there and are very happy. Everybody there takes their jobs very serious and it is such a warm and loving atmosphere. There is no pressure for academic achievement, even though they learn quite a bit. "At this age the most important thing for them is to play" said Jack's and now Isabella's teacher. I wasn't looking for a strict religious education, but the way they gently familiarize the children with God and the fact that Jesus loves them was just right for me. At that age that's all they need to know, and even though I'm catholic and the affiliated Neshanic Church is reformed this was not a problem.

Finding Christian Nurturing Center was no accident. My wife researched and visited well over a dozen of other schools and found that CNC was the place we'd be most comfortable entrusting our children with.

Christian. Nurturing. Center. The name says it all. As a former nursery school teacher, I know the importance of a child's early education, and I can say with no hesitation that CNC provides just the right blend of curriculum and nurturing. And their staff is second to none. Every one of the teachers is warm and loving, and makes their students feel important. Their individual talents are allowed to blossom, while building a solid foundation for future learning. It was wonderful to see my grandchildren flourish in such a caring environment.

Not sure if they're officially in Hillsborough, but KinderCapers at Keilhat Shalom has been excellent for my kids. They're nonsectarian, very academically inclined, the classes are relatively small, it's a co-op with a paid teacher + parent helper in each class daily (which saves us a few dollars), and the people there are just wonderful.

Great facilities (large classroom, full size gym, library, playground); good balance of academics and play; children come out knowing everything they need to know for Kindergarten (kindergarten teachers even mentioned this at conferences); caring and loving staff; affordable tuition. MMOG also offers a Kindergarten Enrichment program, VBS and 2 weeks of preschool camp in the summer.

I cannot say enough about MMoG - both of my children, now 9 &6, attended not only their 3 year old, 4 year old and Enrichment Programs, but their summer Bible And PreK camps as well. My children were beyond ready for Kindergarten and all that it entails academically, socially and emotionally. Miss Karen and Miss Bernadette are by far the most wonderful, warm, nurturing and caring individuals. Their teaching styles compliment each other so well - maybe that's why they've been working together for over 10 years. I knew instantly upon meeting them that I was not going to be looking at any other place for my kids. Miss Christine ( and now Miss Kim too) the K enrichment teachers, complete the team perfectly. The program is far more than just academics and crafts with a religious component - they make you feel like family - they truly love those kids like their own - how could you go wrong with a place like that?!?

Making the choice of where to send my daughter to preschool was not an easy one. After looking at several preschools in the area, my husband and I decided on Mary, Mother of God. We first sent her to preschool camp in the summer to prepare her for the fall. When I arrived to pick her up the first afternoon, she was disappointed to see me and wanted to stay. I knew we had made the right decision. The remainder of our experience was the same. Miss Karen and Miss Bernadette go above and beyond to make every child and parent feel like a special part of their family. Years later when it was time for our son to go to preschool, there was no need to shop around. We knew exactly where we wanted him to go. Thankfully the same wonderful teachers were still there (another thing we love about the program.) In addition to the preschool and preschool camp, they have many other excellent programs like Vacation Bible School and Kindergarten Enrichment. Without hesitation, I would recommend MMOG Preschool (even if you don't belong to the church) and all of their many other programs to any parent!!

MARY MOTHER OF GOD IS THE BEST! Miss Karen and Miss Bernadette are like rock stars in Hillsborough! The kids love them! WHY? Because these amazing teachers treat the kids as their own! When my son cried (for weeks) after leaving him somewhere new, Miss Karen and Bernadette loved him, reassured him, and even had a sweet, nurturing friend comfort him as needed (my son and this boy remain great friends). The tears stopped and the smiles came, as I knew they would. My son loved his teachers, his friends, and his school. He showed other friends where his school was with love and pride. Next year, my youngest son starts preschool with "HIS teachers" (he already thinks of then as his own). Miss Karen and Miss Bernadette have already made my little one feel like part of the MMOG family before he has officially begun. The tuition at MMOG is very affordable, but I would pay WAY more for the quality of education and even higher quality of care that my son received there.

I worked in a local preschool many years ago, before I had children and I knew back then I would never send my children there. When it came time to begin the search I looked with the eyes of a mother and a teacher. I found South Branch Reformed Church Preschool. Their curriculum is stellar! They get the fact that kids need to be given the tools to start their school years correctly but also understand they are still sweet babies. They are loving and compassionate yet maintain control with firm tenderness. The staff take the time to fall in love with your child. My daughter asked me.. Hands down, Mary Mother of God Preschool is the best preschool for our children. As a native of Hillsborough since 1979, I have yet to hear of a better set of wonderful teachers. I have been with MMG since 2006 and have had 3 children who learned far more than I had ever expected at 3 years old. Mrs. Bernadette and Mrs. Karen are outstanding teachers who provide a safe, comfortable environment while focusing on education and good character skills. My children graduated with confidence for their upcoming kindergarten adventure without hesitation, due to the unbelievable level of dedication, caring and love from these 2 teachers. Both teachers prepared my husband and I for the transition to kindergarten, giving us sound advice from years of teaching in the Hillsborough district. We were better prepared for the knowledge of elementary school's expectations, which helped us make the right decisions for our children's educational needs. I can speak for most of the parents of children attending MMG...we were all heartbroken when we had to say goodbye at graduation, for we know our children thrived and became better students because of these 2 teachers. Please, if you are considering a safe, caring, nurturing environment for your greatest gift of life, choose MMG. Your children will graduate with an experience they will cherish forever, as will you <3

She is so excited to learn many new things and make new friends. I TOTALLY recommend MMOG!!

Our community is lucky to have a preschool & enrichment program like the one at Mary, Mother of God. My family, friends, and neighbors all love the program and its caring, nurturing staff.
As an educator, one of my top priorities is to send my children to a place that has an engaging curriculum rich with the best practices in early childhood education. The program at MMOG Preschool & Enrichment program does just that. In fact, I am particularly pleased with the literacy activities built into daily lesson plans.
In addition to academic needs, MMOG’s staff is also committed to the social, emotional, and physical well-being of our children. The recently built facility includes a large classroom with learning centers and play area, an outdoor playground, full size gymnasium, and library room. Each space is especially designed to promote the social interaction and active learning that is so critical at this age.
Lastly, it is clear how much the children of this community love the school and staff. Every weekend, I see little faces light up when they spot their teachers in town. The staff at MMOG Preschool & Enrichment program treat parents and children like family. Each day, parents go to work feeling confident knowing how happy their children are to be with teachers who are so dedicated, trustworthy, and loving.
If you are looking for an affordable program in a convenient location with an outstanding staff then MMOG Preschool & Enrichment program is the best choice!

We had a wonderful experience at the South Branch Reformed Church preschool. My son just finished his second year there. The teachers were warm and loving. The class projects were creative. The holiday presentations were just wonderful. The teachers kept me informed on how my child was doing. When he was going through a rough time adjusting, they would let me know each day how he did. I would recommend SBRC preschool to everybody.
