Nominate the Best Bank
Let us know the best bank so we can put it to a vote and find out which is the Readers’ Choice 2012 winner.
Where can you find the best bank?
Patch is relaunching its Readers’ Choice program and we’re asking you, your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else who knows about the area to nominate the best spots in Hillsborough Patch.
We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your favorites now.
All you need to do to nominate a business is to add it in the comments below. If you already see the business you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included, because we may not be able to add all businesses and we want to make sure the top ones make it into the poll.
Thanks in advance for your participation.
Here are the other categories we're seeking nominations:
Food and drink
Kids Zone
Best Place for School Supplies
Best Place for a Child's Haircut

I second the nomination for Affinity Federal Credit Union! :) Everyone who works there is extremely friendly.

I agree with Laura. Affinity Federal Credit Union. The friendliest bank personnel I have ever encountered, although Valley National Bank is a very close second. Bank of America would be dead last.

I love Somerset Savings. The people are friendly, the rates are usually competitive and they don't sell off your mortgage to another lender.

I was thinking yesterday that this poll would be a funny "tongue-in-cheek" one to post, given that most of the new businesses in town are seemingly banks. Every time a business leaves and the "What should replace it" question is asked, there are always a bunch of joke answers around banks.
By the way, I use BoA and like the tellers (Kim is great). But I actually resent the couple of people who stand there just to say hello rather than pitch in when there is a line.

I use ING Direct (online). Free ATMs all over the place. Interest on checking, and higher interest on savings accounts. No fees whatsoever. Cash a check? I can do that with my smart phone. The only reason I still have a BoA account is for international wires (online). For business I use Capital One (brick and mortar to open the account, otherwise all online), which now owns ING.
I can't think of a reason for having a bank with a building any more these days.

Another vote for Affinity Federal Credit Union. Screw the big banks after they took our tax dollars to cover their failures.

Affinity by far. I have been with them for the past 18 years, and have nothing but good things to say about them.

My personal favorite is PNC, on 206. They have helped me so much. Mom's bank Wells Fargo investments has done a fantastic job for her also. Both banks have gone out of their way to contact me and upgrade accounts.

Affinity FCU is the best that I've ever dealt with! Friendly staff and helpful. No pressure to open other accounts that you don't need, etc.
