Soldier Will Be Welcomed Home to Hillsborough

Rob Movshin is scheduled to return on Sunday from Afghanistan.

The yellow ribbons tied around trees and utility poles around Lane Road when U.S. Army National Guard Maj. Rob Movshin was deployed to Afghanistan last year have become faded and tattered—but when he returns on Sunday, he'll see a clean, fresh greeting to welcome him home.

"My neighbors and I have been working feverishly this past week to replace all the neighborhood yellow ribbons displayed during his deployment that were blown away or damaged," Maj. Movshin's wife Diane said.

Maj. Movshin was deployed with the the 117th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of the 42nd Regional Support Group of West Trenton last March. After initially heading to Ft. Hood, Texas, he spent the next nine months at Kandahar Air Force Base, in Afghanistan.

During his deployment, Maj. Movshin kept in contact with his family in Hillsborough, including a Skype conference with sons Noah and Adam on Veterans Day. Before his deployment, Maj. Movshin had been active in Hillsborough schools and was a coach with the Jr. Raiders Football program.

Movshin's wife learned the 117ths will return to New Jersey from Texas at about noon Sunday, arriving at Trenton-Mercer Airport. Families will be able to reunite with their family members at the West Trenton Armory.

After that, Maj. Movshin and his family will return to his ribbon-festooned neighborhood in Hillsborough.
