Library Program to Discuss 'Renaissance on the Raritan'

May 3 presentation to include Judy Shaw, director of the Raritan River Initiative, and hydologist John Jengo.

For the month of May, the library will showcase collections of artwork by Ting Ting Hsu and original oil paintings by Linda Lam.

Adult Services Programs from April 29 through May 11:

ESL Conversation Group – April 29 and May 6 at 7 p.m.
Sign up for our mixed gender ESL Conversation Group sponsored by Somerset County Literacy Volunteers. 
The program runs through May 20, 2013. Must know basic English. 
Afternoon Movie: "Life of Pi" – May 1 at 1:30 p.m.
Starring:  Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Adil Hussain. Rated PG 
Reimagining Our Watershed: A Renaissance on the Raritan – May 3 at 6:30 p.m.
The Raritan Economic Development Committee, in conjunction with the Rutgers E.J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and the Sustainable Raritan River Collaborative will present the film, "Reimagining Our Watershed: A Renaissance on the Raritan." This film features projects and organizations from all areas of the Raritan, South Branch, The Upper Raritan and the Lower Raritan, and many tributaries, too. Dr. Judy Shaw, director of the Raritan River Initiative, will provide comments. We will also share the story of one very special project - the restoration of fish runs through the removal of two obsolete dams on the river. John Jengo, Principal Hydrologist with MWH Global will give remarks. Light Refreshments will be served.
Writing a Resume and Cover Letter – May 6 at 7 p.m.
Learn how to write and/or refine your resume and cover letter for your job search.  Bring your current resume/cover letter copies to work on and by the end of the program, you will have the tools necessary for new and improved job application tools.  Presented by Lisa Chenofsky Singer, Executive, Leadership, and Career Management Coach, Chenofsky Singer & Associates.
Friends of the Library Book Discussion – May 7 at 7:30 p.m.
The featured book of this discussion is Still Alice by Lisa Genova.
Wellness Recovery Action Plan – May 8 at 7 p.m.
WRAP is an evidence-based and strength-based model that consists of focusing on personal wellness and the development of a crisis plan.  It is a model that can be adapted to dealing with the effects and recovery of mental illness, addictions and trauma, diabetes, and fibromyalgia. Presented by Mary Welsh, LCSW, and Janice Guiro, Peer Advocate Catholic Charities.
