Hillsborough Teen Found Dead on Sidewalk
Hillsborough Police and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office investigate 16-year-old's death.
A 16-year-old Hillsborough teen was found dead early Thursday morning on Gemini Drive, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said.
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and Hillsborough Township Police are investigating the death, but are not releasing the teenager’s identity or gender at this time. The teenager was found on a sidewalk on Gemini Drive at about 5:30 a.m., according to a statement released by the prosecutor's office.
The death has stunned the usually quiet neighborhood.
The Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene, along with local emergency personnel. A post-mortem examination and autopsy was scheduled for Thursday, according to the prosecutor's office.
The Hillsborough Township School District confirmed that the teenager is a student at the high school. Students and staff were informed about the student's death and observed a moment of silence.
The district has provided grief counselors for students and staff.
