Hillsborough Teen Found Dead Identified
Visitation hours will be held Monday with funeral scheduled for Tuesday in South Plainfield.
A Hillsborough teen who was found dead on a township sidewalk last week has been identified as Jose Mejia Jr., a spokesman for the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office confirmed Monday.
Mejia was found dead Thursday morning on Gemini Drive at about 5:30 a.m. Mejia, a sophomore at Hillsborough High School, was 16 years old.
The death, which shocked members of the neighborhood, remains under investigation.
Capt. Jack Bennett, a spokesman for Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, said on Monday there were no new details to report.
Visitation hours will be held Monday at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals in South Plainfield from 5 to 9 p.m., according to a brief obituary on the funeral home's website.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at the funeral home at 11 a.m., with interment to follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
