HHS Student's Art Tapped for Contemporary Youth Art Show
Rose Tarantino's drawing is in Youth Art Month show at the Center for Contemporary Art.
Rose Tarantino, 11th grader from Hillsborough High School, will be featured in The Center for Contemporary Art's 14th annual Youth Art Month show, featuring art by students from Basking Ridge, Warren, Hillsborough and several others.
The exhibition will take place throughout part of March in an exhibition of Somerset County student work done in partnership with Art Educators of New Jersey.
Each year, according to a release from the center, every state submits a Youth Art Month report to the National Art Education Association, and awards of excellence are given out. New Jersey, the release said, has been in the top four for the past 11 years.
In this year’s program, 13 Somerset County schools will be participating in the two separate exhibitions. From those, six students have been chosen to have their work shown in a state-wide exhibition at the statehouse in Trenton, where more than 100 pieces of student work will be on display from all counties in New Jersey.
The first part of the Bedminster exhibit, featuring students in grades six through 12 will run from March 1 through March 10. The second part, for students in grades kindergarten through five, will run from March 15 through March 24.
Public receptions will be held March 10 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the first part and March 25 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for part two.
Awards presentations will be held during each reception.
And on March 10, the release said, Dan Fenelon, an artist and muralist, will lead a group project for tweens and teens to work in his unique style of art.
Finally, on March 25, the center will host a Family Open House with art projects for young artists.
