HHS Competitive Cheerleaders End Season at National Competition

Group already preparing for next year's season.

Since August 2012, the Hillsborough High School Varsity Competition Cheer Squad has been very busy six days a week. Whether it be cheering on the sidelines in the fall for the HHS varsity football games, during the winter on the bleachers for the boys and girls varsity basketball teams or varsity boys wrestling, they also practiced two or more hours a day, six days a week their competition routine.

As well, the squad participated in various competitions during the last four months in which one of them they earned a bid to the National Championships.

The 2012-13 season has come to an end six months later for the 16 Hillsborough High School girls. On Feb. 9, the squad competed at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships at ESPN World in Walt Disney World Orlando, Fla.

Although the squad came out full of energy and performed a great routine, they unfortunately did not advance but made their family and friends who made the trip to support them very proud.

This year’s squad will be losing only one senior to graduation, so the squad is looking forward to a few months off for some rest and then start their preparation for the 2013-14 season—with hopes of attending another UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship.
