Love Patch? The site celebrates its first birthday Thursday and that means celebration—and, of course, we want our readers included!

We'll be at Joe's Pizza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday to celebrate the site's one-year anniversary. The first 50 people who sign up for the newsletter to get a slice of free pizza. Already signed up for the newsletter? We'll have awesome Patch swag to give out too.

Here's what you need to know today:

  1. You Need to Know It’s for Toddlers: The Hillsborough Public Library hosts Toddler Time for Twos and Threes, a 10 a.m. program that includes stories, songs and more. This week’s topic is trains,  and the program doesn’t require registration.
  2. You Need to Know About Nursery Rhymes: The Hillsborough Public Library also hosts a program on nursery rhymes for children ages newborn to two years at 10:30 a.m. today. You’ll need to register for the program by calling 908-369-2200, extension 14.
  3. You Need to Know About Science: The Hillsborough Public Library hosts an afterschool science program on magnetism for kids in grade three to five at 4:30 p.m. today. You’ll need to register for the hands-on program by calling 908-369-2200, extension 14.
  4. You Need to Know: kids can join the Tree House Gang at Lord Stirling Park’s Environmental Education Center at 12:45 p.m. It’s $50 for about a month’s worth of activities.
  5. You Need to Know About Mittens: Kathleen Academy of Dance will be collecting new gloves and mittens to donate to the United Way through Wednesday. Pick up a pair and drop them off at the studio between 5 and 8 p.m. today or tomorrow.
