Happy Birthday, Hillsborough Patch
It's one year since Hillsborough Patch launched.
It's been a long year in Patchland, Patch fans.
Since the site went live a year ago, we've covered blizzards, hurricanes, elections, sports, historic contract negotiations and contentious layoffs. We've seen proposals before the Planning Board be withdraw, to cheers from one side and dismay from another. We've gotten a mention from the Air Force on Twitter, and had a New York Giant autograph a Patch shirt.
But one thing's clear—there's no way the site would have been successful without our readers' support. Whether it's story tips, complaints, comments (did we every get a verdict on Baker's Treat? Maybe I should borrow a restaurant critic from another cluster for the final word.), and questions, the site would not be what it is today without our readers.
What can we say? Thanks for sticking with us, Patch fans!
Here's to another year, and what you need to know today:
You Need to Know Where to Get Pizza: on Patch! We’re celebrating our one-year anniversary from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Joe’s Pizza in Mountain View Plaza on Route 206. The first 50 people get a slice on us, and you can also get some nifty Patch swag!
You Need to Know It’s for Moms: The Hillsborough MOMS Club West meets at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow. Since the location shifts each time, you’ll need to email their membership chair-mom at mchw.info@gmail.com if you’re interested in joining the club. East of Route 206? You'll want to investigate the Moms Club East.
You Need to Know It’s Magnetic: The Hillsborough Public Library hosts a science program for children ages four, five and six at 10 a.m. today. The topic is magnetism and you can register for the hands-on program by calling the Children’s Desk at 908-369-2200, ext. 14.
You Need to Know How to Bake Better: Rachel Simpers, ShopRite’s in-store dietician, leads an 11 a.m. workshop on healthier holiday baking. It’s free to attend and will include recipes you can bake at home.
You Need to Know It’s the Season: Seasons, a music group that fuses Celtic, folk and popular music, performs a free holiday concert at 7 p.m. in the Hillsborough Public Library’s west wing.
