Gas Leak Repairs Close Route 206 Southbound
Ongoing emergency utility work shuts roadway between New Amwell and Amwell roads.
Route 206 southbound between New Amwell and Amwell roads was closed Sunday morning for emergency utility work due to the ongoing cleanup of a more than 2,300-gallon leak.
According to a Nixle alert released by the Hillsborough Police Department, delays are expected in the area and detour signs are posted.
Buckeye Pipe Line Co. released a statement Saturday, saying it has determined about 55 barrels of gasoline—2,310 gallons—leaked from the pipeline, a quantity much higher than initially reported.
The leak was discovered last week and the ongoing repairs, lane closures and traffic congestion in the area has affected holiday business, merchants said.
Patch will provide more updates when they are available.
