Dress for Less at Project Graduation Sale

Project Graduation hosts its annual dress sale March 3.

 

Months of collection formal dresses, Saturday's the day the goods go on sale.
Project Graduation's Annual Dress Sale fundraiser begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and runs until 3 p.m at Hillsborough High School. A variety of semi-formal, formal and cocktail dresses will be on sale, including ones with tags attached.
The bargain? None of the dresses will be priced over $50. 

Here's what's happening this weekend:
Fish Dinner Buffet

When/Where: 4:30 p.m. Friday at Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 3.
Why Go: To eat several types of fish and support the local firefighters.
Cost: $11.

"Caring For Kathy"
When/Where:
 Fundraiser to raise money to defray cost of medical treatment for longtime resident Kathy Kelleher, at 7 p.m. Friday at the St. James School gym, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, S. Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Help a neighbor, and have a fun-filled evening with comedy, music, food and a chance at such items as stay in a vacation home in Colorado.
Cost:
 $50 per person, or contribute later to the fund.

Night of Hope & Dreams — Bryan's Dream Foundation
When/Where:
 For everyone, 7 to 11 p.m., Friday, at the Forest Lodge, 11 Reinman Road, Warren.
Why Go: Evening featuring silent and live auctions, as well as a mystery raffle, with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres to support Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with serious illnesses. Bryan’s Dream Foundation is an all-volunteer organization established by Nancy and Tim Opremcak of Basking Ridge, in memory of their son, Bryan, who lost his life to a brain tumor in January, 2006 at age 12.

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax fundraiser
When/Where: Starting Friday, March 2, with the movie's debut at Clearview's Bernardsville Cinema 3, 5 Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville.
Why Go: Besides seeing a fun movie, you can donate funds to the Somerset County Park Commission, including the Environmental Education Center, as coordinated by one of the movie theater's managers, Alex Furst of Basking Ridge.
Cost: Movie admission, plus any donation. 908-766-0357.

Sly Fox

When/Where: Friday and Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m. at the Somerset Valley Playhouse.
Why Go: To see an old miser attempt to fleece his friends in the old West.
Cost: $15 adults; $13 seniors and students.

Flapjack Fundraiser
When/Where: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebees.
Why Go: Eating pancakes at the Hillsborough restaurant will help the Hillsborough Heat baseball team.
Cost: $8.

SAT Review Class
When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater.
Why Go: To take a one-day comprehensive review of the SATs, with a focus on mathematics and English.
Cost: $50.

GSHNJ Queen of Cakes_
When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School.
Why Go: For Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey and Cakes Unlimited to participate in a cake challenge, with kids in grades six through 12. Girls will earn their Creative Cooking badges in this workshop that includes learning about cake decorating and making their own treats.
Cost: $35.

 


Kreate: Kids Art Class
When/Where: Noon Saturday, at Kreative Kids Art and Music Academy, 4 Jill Court, building 22, Hillsborough.
Why Go: Because your kids will be able to create any type of art during an open art class. Paint, clay, colored pencils and more will be provided. Contact Kreative Kids at 908-431-4439 by 10 a.m. Saturday to let them know you’re coming.
Cost: $15

Big Apple Circus
When/Where: Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at TD Bank Ballpark.
Why Go: To see the circus's "Dream Big" show, complete with acrobats, trapeze flyers, a juggler and much more.
Cost: $20.

 

 

Open House Performing Arts Camp
When/Where: Noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Dance Connection.
Why Go: To see what the Dance Connection’s summer camp is all about.
Cost: The open house is free to attend, but there is a cost associated with the camp.

All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast
When/Where:
 8 a.m. Sunday at 14 North Doughty Avenue in Somerville.
Why Go: Because you can eat as many pancakes as you want at a historic Somerville Landmark, while also supporting the Raritan Valley Masonic Lodge #46.
Cost: $6


Project Graduation Prom Preview Fashion Show
When/Where: Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Bridgewater Manor.
Why Go: To see the latest fashions for prom, as senior guys model suits from Men's Warehouse and girls model dresses from Lord & Taylor.
Cost: $35.


13th Annual Family Purim Carnival
When/Where: Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center.
Why Go: To spend time with the family by taking part in the annual carnival to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim.
Cost: Free.
