A downed traffic light caused by a motor vehicle accident left heavy traffic delays on Route 206 Tuesday morning, according to the Hillsborough Police Department.

The accident took place in the area of Homestead Road according to an alert issued through Nixle at 7:51 a.m. on Tuesday.

The accident appeared to be a single-car accident involving a gray Ford. The traffic light pole was snapped at the base, with the light resting along the road. 

Police told motorists to expect heavy delays while the situation was being tended to.
