Democrats: Why Are Storefronts Vacant?

Hillsborough Democratic Organization talks about its video about economic future of township.

The following was submitted by the Hillsborough Democratic Organization.

Hillsborough Democrats 2012 [Thursday] released a new campaign video addressing the question of why there are so many vacant storefronts and offices in Hillsborough and what could be done to attract new retail and service businesses. The video is titled simply, “Why?” It features a conversation over coffee between Mike Goldberg, Chairman of the Hillsborough Democratic Organization and a candidate for Hillsborough Township Committee, and township resident Bonnie Kole. The conversation reveals their mutual concerns over the economic future of Hillsborough and the need for Town Center revitalization.

“Why has the Cost Cutters space been vacant for so long and what can we do about it?”

This is just one of the many questions the video addresses as scenes from around Hillsborough, including many empty storefronts, are shown.

The video is currently available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSeEh9CtGhM&feature=plcp and will soon be posted on the Democrats 2012 Campaign website.

Because nobody has the money to fight with the town for a year in order to open a simple store. They have no common sense and think money grows on trees. Instead of maybe making it easier so you can open a store and hire 4-5 people. the sign ordinance is about 50 pages, just to figure out what kind of sign you can have.

Thank You for the video. You two are about as clueless as Joe Biden!

Patti-
You obviously didn't watch the video since they want to ban signs instead of helping businesses. And just because your limited intelligence stops you from opening another business, seems like a ton of new stores in town have figured it out.
Ps I don't blame you for not watching it, it's pretty bad even for YouTube.

dispatch1234- i think you didn't understand the video, they are trying to figure out why there are stores that are empty, because you have probably never opened a business in Hillsborough it very expensive, you have to have deep pockets. You seem to be the one with not a clue what is going on in this town. As as far as the signs go, a legal sign is a different story than a sign that is a temporary sign. I will say that the last 2 yrs the town hasn't really busted anybodies chops for the stupid little signs. If you were opening a new business that is a different store. There are contractors who don't want to work in Hillsborough because it is so difficult. Ask any business owner in town. Go see how long it takes to get a building permit foe a shed, youll be shocked. Get your head out of the sand.
