High School Pre-School/Nursery Program Accepting 2013 Applications
The Hillsborough High School (HHS) Department of Family & Consumer Sciences is currently accepting student applications for the 2013 Pre-School Program. The application, as well as immunization and medical record forms, are available at the district website, www.htps.us.
The HHS Pre-School/Nursery program is open to all Hillsborough residents ages 3-5 years old. Students must be three years old by Jan. 1, 2013. The program runs Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday from mid-January through mid-June for 1 hour and 20 minutes. The cost for the program is $125/student and 38 spots are available. Completed applications for Pre-School are dated and kept on file in the order in which they are received. Parents must return the child’s medical and immunizations forms prior to Dec. 1 for the application to be eligible. The application is not eligible for acceptance until all required medical documents are received.
The Pre-School Child/Nursery class is a 10 credit, double-period elective for Hillsborough High School juniors and seniors who are interested in such career fields as education, child psychology, and social services, or as a basis for learning good parenting skills for future family life. The high school students spend the first semester studying the theory behind the emotional, physical and social development of pre-school children. During the second semester, the students apply their knowledge in the classroom with the Pre-School students by planning, organizing, and supervising the program. The Pre-School Program has been in operation since 1971 and approximately eight district teachers are former HHS students of the Pre-school Child/Nursery class.
